Haunted houses - they are supposed to be fun, right? You think it is just the atmosphere of the rooms, the cobwebs, spiders, and decrepit and worn down furniture are what gives them the spooky area. Well, what happens when you're wrong, and all the rumors defy all science and logic, and you actually find something? What do you do? How do you handle it?
My friends and I decided to go to this boarded up house. They said a creature was living in the house after the "mad scientist" which left it was murdered inside. He was murdered in the parlor in the Victorian age. For years they accused him of having twisted and monstrous creatures in his lab, which at his death were caged and left inside the manor.
As we entered the house, it was rather silent, up until we heard the gentle humming of a little girl. We thought someone else was exploring the haunted house and wanted to join them. As we came upon the parlor, we saw her -- one of the smallest creatures rumored to be in the house. The boots on her feet made chomping sounds - the boots were alive, just as live as she was. Horrified and wide eyed, she froze in the beam from our flashlight.
Now that I look back, I don't know who was more terrified - her or us. I heard nothing but combined screams as we ran one way and the creature ran the other. The manor is her safe haven. I don't think I'll return ever again. If that creature was there, who knows what else is in the house.
